The collection, Plantation Melodies Old and New includes seven songs: I Doan' Want Fu' T'stay Hyeah No Longah, My Lawd's A-writin' Down Time, When de Debble Comes 'Round, De Black-bird an' de Crow, My Merlindy Brown, Negro Lullaby, An Ante-Bellum Sermon. An Ante-Bellum Sermon was adapted to music from Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem of the same name from his book, Lyrics of a Lowly Life:
