Words: Paul Laurence Dunbar, Music: Will Marion Cook

Der'll Be Wahm Coons a Prancin is the finale from Clorindy, or the Origin of the Cakewalk, Will Marion Cook's operetta. Ernest Hogan trained more than twelve singers and dancers for the production, which opened at the Casino Roof Garden in Manhattan. The show was incredibly successful, despite protests that its theme of the cakewalk, was a degrading representation of slavery.
