I've Got Troubles of My Own and I Ain't Gwine Ter Work No Mo' are part of the score of The Belle of Bridgeport, the first Cole and Johnson Brothers musical collaboration. The most famous song of the musical was Louisiana Lize, the team's first musical composition. Between 1900 and 1910, Bob Cole, J. Rosamond Johnson, and James Weldon Johnson wrote an estimated hundred and fifty songs together. Moreover, their songs departed from stereotype, especially the derogatory themes of violence which pervaded popular culture.
