Bits and Pieces: Making the Parts Whole

Date: 6 June 2016
Time: 5:30 p.m.
Location: Sterling Memorial Lecture Hall, Yale University
Lecturer: Raymond Clemens - Curator for Early Books and Manuscripts, Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Yale University

For as long as manuscripts have been dismembered they’ve been reassembled in myriad forms. This talk will explore both the urge to reassemble and some of the ways books have been reassembled from the medieval period to the present.

Beinecke Library and Lilian Goldman Law Library are pleased to be hosting two courses offered by Rare Book School (http://rarebookschool.org/) during the week of June 6: Advanced Seminar in Medieval Manuscript Studies with Barbara A. Shailor, and Law Books: History & Connoisseurship with Mike Widener. While the classes are open only to enrollees, this evening lecture held in conjunction with the courses will be open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.
