Shelley Frisch holds a Ph.D. in German from Princeton University, 1981. She has taught at Columbia University, Haverford College, and Rutgers University. She is the author of The Lure of the Linguistic, a study of German Romantic speculations on language, and Alien Homeland, a forthcoming biography of Erika Mann. She has also translated seven books from German, most recently biographies of Nietzsche, Kafka, and Einstein.
