Karen Junod holds her first degree in English, German and Art History from the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland, and a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from Oxford University, 2005. Karen's research and teaching interests include the relationships between British art and literature in the 18th and 19th centuries; Anglo-German literary and cultural connections; biography/autobiography; genre theory.

Karen's current project at the Beinecke Library is entitled The Unexplored Grand Tour: The Dissemination of German Thought and Culture in Britain, 1760-1850. It analyses the accounts of British travelers to Germany. It is also an investigation into the cultural and literary affinities between these two countries. Karen Junod’s articles have been published in various journals, including "The Age of Johnson", "Word and Image", and "Eighteenth-Century Studies".
