Christopher Stray is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Department of Classics, University of Wales Swansea, since 1989. In 1996-8 he was a Visiting Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge, supported by a grant from the Spencer Foundation, Chicago.

His main scholarly interests include history and sociology of classical teaching and scholarship; history of textbooks; slangs, family languages, and idiolects.
