Permanent Markers: Aspects of the History of Printing
Friday, May 17, 2013 to Saturday, September 14, 2013

Broadsides

Broadsides, posters, flyers, one-sheets... These basic printed items served to bring the latest news, announce events, and call citizens to arms. On view as part of the exhibition is a selection of broasides that were originally intended to be posted in public view. One group documents events in American history and covers a range of dates from the eighteenth century through the twentieth; a second group documents events in European history and covers a range of dates from the seventeenth century through the twentieth.
