New Scholarship by Patricia Gosálvez: “Lady Cynthia Asquith. La aristócrata y el viejo Peter Pan in El Pais Semanal

“WHEN JM BARRIE, author of Peter Pan, was on the point of dying, Peter Llewelyn Davies - one of the brothers who inspired the fable of the child who did not want to grow up - telephoned Cynthia Asquith, for whom he had no particular affection, but who had spent two decades as secretary and confidant to his ‘Uncle Jim’. It was 1937 and Lady Asquith was in Cornwall, but she did not hesitate to drive alone and at night about 350 miles to London to accompany in her last hours the person whom she called “my loving master.” Barrie referred to her as ‘my private private secretary.’” Continueing reading: “Lady Cynthia Asquith. La aristócrata y el viejo Peter Pan.” (original text in Spanish; translation of first paragraph by Curator Tim Young).
