Brass | Kinda Blues: W.C. Handy and Friends
This concert celebrates music from the first golden era of jazz and stage.
Among the Beinecke and Yale Library collections are letters and photographs relating to great American composers, including W.C. Handy, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter.
The vibrant and innovative works of these composers established blues as a mainstream genre and gave rise to jazz, considered by many the most distinctly American form of musical expression.
The exhibition gallery is closed while the library's building is under renovation.
Temporary Reading Room Hours
Monday - Friday: 9 am to 4:45 pm
The temporary reading room is located in Yale's Sterling Memorial Library, across Wall Street from the Beinecke.
