Yale's Beinecke Library at 50: A Look Inside
As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library invites Festival goers to take a look inside the Beinecke Library, one of the world's largest buildings devoted entirely to rare books and manuscripts. Learn about the history of the building and its collections, how material is acquired and cataloged, and have a curator-led tour of the anniversary exhibition, 'Permanent Markers: Aspects of the History of Printing.' In the Reading Room, meet with staff and see an array of collection materials selected to illustrate how researchers from around the world use the materials to make discoveries, find inspiration, and create new scholarship.
The exhibition gallery is closed while the library's building is under renovation.
Temporary Reading Room Hours
Monday - Friday: 9 am to 4:45 pm
The temporary reading room is located in Yale's Sterling Memorial Library, across Wall Street from the Beinecke.
