New York has always featured prominently in children's literature. Drawing upon numerous authors and illustrators, Whyte discusses books within the context of urban transformation and renewal in the 20th and 21st centuries. Dr. Pádraic Whyte is co-director of the graduate program in Children's Literature at the School of English, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
