Joel Smith

Joel Smith is researching the artist Saul Steinberg for the catalogue of a retrospective exhibition that will appear at four American venues, late 2006 to early 2008. In November Joel Smith begins an appointment as curator of photographs at the Princeton University Art Museum. The relationships joining modern art, comics, journal design & illustration, and press and vernacular photography are among his interests. Joel Smith’s publications include Edward Steichen: The Early Years (1999) and Steinberg at The New Yorker (2005).
