Description: Autograph journal of a two-month tour by the author through Holland, Germany, Belgium, and France. Traveling by boat, train, and carriage, Jacob Riley Marsh visited art galleries, museums, and churches, and attended concerts. He describes many of the paintings he sees, particularly those of Rubens, as well as any local monuments. He noted several sites related to the life of Napoleon, including memorials, buildings, and the battlefield at Waterloo. Marsh spent time in London on both ends of his trip; on his second day in the city he visited Kensington Gardens and encountered Queen Victoria and Prince Albert riding in a barouche.
