Journals of Susanna Moodie / Margaret Atwood, Charles Pachter ; with a memoir by Charles Pachter and foreword by David Staines.
"Margaret Atwood's The Journals of Susanna Moodie is one of her most enduring volumes of verse. These poems, set against the Canadian landscape from pioneer days to the 20th century, offer timeless insights into human survival and renewal - in nature and in civilization. Artist Charles Pachter's vivid, original serigraphs illuminate the poems, breathing heat and light into every page." "The faithful reproduction of the original 1980 hand-printed, limited edition is introduced with a memoir by Charles Pachter and a foreword by David Staines."--Jacket.

Autograph journal of a two-month tour by the author through Holland, Germany, Belgium, and France. Traveling by boat, train, and carriage, Jacob Riley Marsh visited art galleries, museums, and churches, and attended concerts. He describes many of the paintings he sees, particularly those of Rubens, as well as any local monuments. He noted several sites related to the life of Napoleon, including memorials, buildings, and the battlefield at Waterloo. Marsh spent time in London on both ends of his trip; on his second day in the city he visited Kensington Gardens and encountered Queen Victoria and Prince Albert riding in a barouche.
