Bruce Nugent letters to James W. Thompson, 1970-1977.
Collection of thirty-one letters, typescript and autograph manuscript, signed, from Bruce Nugent to his friend James W. Thompson. The letters, many of which are several pages in length, provide a rich portrait of Nugent's life in New York City during the 1970s. Letters cover a range of topics and experiences, including sexual encounters and romantic interests, friends, artistic and literary activities, financial circumstances, and travel. With their descriptive homoerotic content, Nugent's letters chronicle gay culture, lifestyles, and literature.
