Muffin bones.

High school students United States.
Author: Larned, Emily K.
Description: Emily K. Larned, a Wesleyan College alumna who is now a Brooklyn based artist begins this perzine in high school and continues it through most of college. While many of her interests stay the same - thrift shops, music, art, and vegan/vegetarianism, as she grows older, she comes into her own as an artist and writer, interspersing original sketches and comics about her life, her friends, and her purchases with short stories and drawings, moving away from the original riot grrrl themes. Early issues are mostly typed, and she chooses several different sizes and formats for her writing that also includes essays on indie rock, New York City, and the Bennington College summer high school program. There are also zine reviews and soundtrack listings. Issue 12 features the first hand drawn cover, which later becomes a fixture of the zine, and in issue 17, she moves from the East Coast to Lawrence, Kansas, to take a semester off from Wesleyan.
