This volume of the Joseph Smith Papers includes documents dating from 1828 to 1834 and features photocopies of original writings in the actual hand of early Mormon Church leaders such as Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery and Sidney Rigdon as well as a transcription and photographic reproduction of each page of the two manuscript revelation books used by early scribes of Joseph Smith, including those used to print the Book of Commandments and 1835 Doctrine & Covenants.
