British Columbia travel diary, 1865 September 2-October 11.

Indians of North America British Columbia.
Description: Manuscript journal in an unidentified hand documenting a 1865 journey on the steamer "Union" on the Skeena River in British Columbia. The Union was led by Captain Thomas Coffin, under contract to the Collins Overland Telegraph Company. Coffin and his crew investigated the possibility of transporting supplies via the Skeena, and the journal records the steamer's daily progress, weather conditions, engineering specifications of the steamer, and encounters with local Indian people. Also included are later manuscript entries in an unidentified hand documenting receipt of unidentified goods and funds.
