Interesting narrative of the conquest of the city of Mexico by the American Army under Gen Scott, circa 1847.

Author: Williams, Edward Charles, 1820-1900.
Description: Autograph manuscript memoir, signed and undated, recounting the Battle of Chapultepec and the capture of Mexico City by American troops during the Mexican War. Williams was captain of Company G, in the 2nd Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers, and he describes taking the Chapultepec citadel under the leadership of General Winfield Scott, capturing the Mexico City, and ending the Mexican War. Williams especially emphasizes the movements of the troops and the actions of Santa Anna. Also included are muster lists and lists of supplies and stores for Company G.
