Choctaw Indians Cultural assimilation.
Author: Drinker, Henry, 1734-1809.
Description: Autograph letter, signed, from Henry Drinker to Henry Dearborn, the United States Secretary of War. Drinker discusses Dearborn's proposal that Quakers establish a program to educate Choctaw Native Americans in agriculture and artisanship. Drinker agrees with Dearborn's proposal, and enquires about the costs of sending Quaker families to Choctaw Territory. Drinker also mentions the work of Silas Dinsmore, the Choctaw Indian agent, 1801-1813.
