Mahala Dutton Benedict Douglas (1864-1945) photographed by Carl Van Vechten, New York, November 22, 1935. Douglas survived the sinking of the Titanic. Her husband, Walter Donald Douglas, an heir to the Quaker Oats Company, went down with the ship, April 14-15, 1912
