CARL SAGAN
Contact
Sagan played a leading role in NASA’s Mariner Viking, Voyager,
and Galileo expeditions to other planets. He received NASA and
Distinguished Public Service medals for exceptional scientific achievement.
His novel is set in the world of today, and details humankind's first
contact with another civilization through the eyes of Ellie, director
of SETI, the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. The story promotes
the notions that pi is not a random number but perhaps a coded message
from the creators of the universe and that religion and science are not
as far apart as many people believe.
