Beinecke Library research fellow Ewa Kolodziejczyk has been awarded the Professor Tadeusz Kotarbinski Prize for her book Amerykańskie powojnie Czesława Miłosza [The American Postwar Years of Czesław Miłosz]. Kolodziejczyk was the 2011 Christina and Alexnader Schenker Fellow at Beinecke Library.

Based in part on her fellowship research in the Czesław Miłosz Papers (GEN MSS 661), Kolodziejczyk’s work explores Miłosz’s life and writing during his first extended visit to the U. S. in 1946-1950. The study considers journalism, essays, correspondence and other unpublished work written during this crucial period in the writer’s life.

The University of Łódź awards the Professor Tadeusz Kotarbiński Prize for outstanding monographs in the humanities. The prize honors Tadeusz Kotarbiński, the first president of the University of Łódź.

Ewa Kolodziejczyk’s scholarship has also earned the recognition of the Institute of Literary Research in the Polish Academy of Sciences.
