Times Literary Supplement: Peter Ackroyd at the Beinecke Library

March 15, 2013

At the Beinecke Library’s March 5, 2013, reception at the Athenaeum in London, historian Peter Ackroyd recalled when the Beinecke added his papers to its collections, “much to my delight and pleasure.”

Ackroyd shared his surprise and admiration at first viewing the building, which “shone with the light of interior knowledge.”

And after the following conversation about when his papers would be catalogued — “Only when you’re dead.” “I’ll let you know.” “Don’t call us – we’ll call you.” — Ackroyd called the Beinecke staff among the most knowledgeable, friendliest, and most amusing.
