Biography

Paolo Petrocelli is an Italian young arts administrator, entrepreneur, violinist, musicologist and music journalist.He received his diploma in violin performance from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia and graduated in musicology from the Sapienza University of Rome. He was admitted to masters programs at City University London and Royal Holloway University. He specialized in the study of 20th century European music, with a focus on British composers.Paulo has published various essays on the music of Sir William Walton and the book The Resonance of a Small Voice: William Walton and the Violin Concerto in England between 1900 and 1940(Cambridge Scholars Publishing).As a violinist, Paolo has performed with many Italian and international orchestras. In 2008 he, with the electo-acoustic ensemble Zeitlet, won Independent Music Awards in the Film Music category. Paolo also plays the violin for the indie-folk band Vinegar Socks.Paolo is very active and involved in European and international cultural organizations.  He was a committee member of the European Music Council’s Working Group Youth between 2008 and 2010. He has been an Ambassador for the Manifesto for Youth and Music in Europe and a Youth Delegate of UNESCO since 2011. He is a family member of The Festival One Week. One Europe. Berlin 2012.Paolo worked as a music critic for the Vatican Radio in addition to working in the artistic direction and library departments of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. His other appointments include media and marketing manager at Symphonica d’Italia (Lorin Maazel music director), vice president and orchestra manager at Orchestra Italiana del Cinema, project manager at Forum Music Village, PR & Media manager for the violinist Uto Ughi and the composer Ezio Bosso, co-founder and co-director of the performing arts management agency Forum Artists, and project and artist manager for IMG Artists.Paolo is founder and artistic director of The Spirit of British Music, a concert music series in Rome dedicated to British music, supported by the British Council, the British Embassy in Italy, the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, the British School at Rome, the Royal Musical Association, and the British Music Society.
