Simone Magherini
Simone Magherini is an Assistant Professor of Italian Literature at the University of Florence and a long-standing scholar of the historical Italian avant-garde (Palazzeschi, Papini, Prezzolini, Soffici, Marinetti). Among his main interests are research on archives, studying literary correspondence, nineteenth- and twentieth-century poetry, and computer applications for humanistic sciences. Since 1999, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the ‘Aldo Palazzeschi’ Study Center, University of FlorenceSimone has edited the first volume of Carteggio Moretti-Palazzeschi, 1904-1925 (Rome, Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, 1999); the picture biography of Palazzeschi Scherzi di gioventù e d’altre età.Album Palazzeschi 1885-1974 (Florence, Pagliai Polistampa, 2001), together with Gloria Manghetti; the Biblioteca di Aldo Palazzeschi catalogue (Rome, Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, 2004); the catalogue for the exhibition Dal Vate al Saltimbanco. L’avventura della poesia a Firenze tra belle époque e avanguardie storiche. Album storico e iconografico (Florence, Olschki, 2008), especially the fourth section on the theme of poetry as amusement; the Carteggio Palazzeschi-Soffici, 1912-1960 (Rome, Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, 2011).On the front of computer applications for humanistic disciplines, Simone designed and participated in work on AD900 (Digital Archive of Twentieth-Century Italian Literature, www.ad900.it), an efficient and modern integrated digital archive for on-line access to cataloguing records and facsimile reproductions of papers belonging to Italian poets and writers. Recently, he edited the volume Tradizione e modernità. Archivi digitali e strumenti di ricerca (Florence, Società Editrice Fiorentina, 2009).During his time at the Beineke Library, he will work on Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and the Florentine review ‘Lacerba’ (1913-1915).
