How to Register

Yale University Faculty, Staff, and Students with Approved Access to Campus: Reading Room

The Beinecke Library reading room will be available on weekdays beginning August 31, 2020, by advance appointment only, to Yale students, faculty, and staff whose individual research requires consulting Beinecke materials.

Yale patrons must make their appointment, register in Aeon, and place requests for materials through Orbis or Archives at Yale at least three business days prior to their visit. Information and instructions here: https://schedule.yale.edu/reserve/spaces/beineckeresearch

Yale patron reservations require a CAS login. Researchers arriving for their reading room appointments must swipe into the library with a current Yale ID. Yale College students enrolled remotely will not have swipe access to campus buildings, including the library, and therefore may not use the reading room. Students with questions about their campus access can log into the Yale Hub (https://yub.yale.edu/) before making a reading room appointment. Other researchers should contact their home or sponsoring departments at Yale with any questions.

Researchers outside Yale University

Current circumstances do not allow the Beinecke Library to welcome non-Yale researchers to the reading room at this time. We invite you to access materials through the Beinecke Library’s Digital Collections as well as by requesting reproductions.

Public Visitors

The exhibition hall remains closed until further notice and current circumstances do not allow the Beinecke Library to welcome public visitors at this time. We invite you to explore the Beinecke Library’s Digital CollectionsDigital ExhibitionsYouTube channel, and other resources on the library website. We look forward to the time in the future when the library will be able to welcome the public again.
