How to Register

Consulting Materials in Beinecke’s Reading Room

The Beinecke Library reading room is open to anyone with a research interest in using materials in Beinecke’s collections. Current hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9am – 4:30pm, and Wednesday, 10am – 4:30pm.

In order to use the reading room, you will need to register as a reader in Yale Library’s special collections system.  Please visit the Guide to Using Special Collections at Yale University for instructions on how to complete these steps.

Once you have registered, you must request the materials you wish to consult using request links in Archives at Yale, Orbis, or Quicksearch at least two business days in advance of your visit.  Please see our find and request page or email beinecke.library@yale.edu for assistance in registering as a reader or requesting materials. 

Public Visitors

Public visitors are welcome in the Beinecke Library exhibition hall on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9am – 7:00 pm; Wednesday, 10am – 4:30pm; and Friday, 9am – 4:30pm; and Saturday and Sunday, noon – 5pm.  Please check the Hours and Accessibility page on this website for detailed information, including current health and safety guidelines.
