How to have a class at the Beinecke Library

Please note that, due to COVID-19, the Beinecke can only host in-person classes for the Yale community, and at a reduced capacity.

Welcome! To teach a class at the Beinecke Library (1-5 sessions)*, please keep the following points in mind.

We require:

2 weeks’ notice to reserve a room, requested via the online form

1 week’s notice to page materials as requested through the catalog or finding aids

15 items or less in class (10 or less in seminar rooms)

*If your course requires the use of Beinecke materials in 6 or more sessions, please apply for a Beinecke-intensive class. To do so, contact the appropriate curator. Beinecke staff will work with you to develop a short, informal proposal outlining the course’s use of materials as well as giving an estimate of the date, time, and number of students. The call for proposals goes out on faculty email lists.

Classroom hours:

MON 10:30 AM-6:30 PM

TUES/WED/THURS 9 AM-6:30 PM
