What We Can Do for You

The Beinecke Library’s research services staff can help you in the following ways:

  • We can guide you to the most appropriate resources for your research
  • We can help you search our catalogs and databases
  • We can answer your bibliographic and archival inquiries about Beinecke collections

We also offer support to Yale faculty who are interested in incorporating Beinecke material into their courses or holding classes at the Beinecke. See more on teaching with Beinecke materials.

Ask a Librarian

Many research queries can be answered by using the Beinecke’s suite of online reference tools. Note that the reference staff does not perform extensive research. If you are unable to visit the library, you might consider hiring a research assistant.

Librarians and curators in the Beinecke Library are available to assist researchers in identifying and using materials in the Beinecke Library during reading room hours. Researchers are encouraged to contact curators in advance to schedule appointments. On-site readers also may wish to discuss their research needs in person with a Research Librarian.

Off-site researchers may submit reference inquiries regarding Beinecke holdings and policies to public services staff via:

Email: beinecke.library@yale.edu
Telephone: (203) 432-2972
Mail: P.O. Box 208330, New Haven, CT 06520-8330
Reference inquiries are answered in the order in which they are received.  Please provide as much information as possible about the subject of your inquiry to assist us in focusing our research efforts on your behalf.
