special Mondays at Beinecke featuring Edmund White, American novelist, memoirist, and essayist.. White was affiliated with a literary group known as the Violet Quill, whose seven members are regarded as one of the strongest collective voices of the gay male experience in the post-Stonewall era.
The Edmund White Papers (YCAL MSS 808) includes extensive personal and professional correspondence, manuscripts, research files, biographical material, financial papers, photographs, slides, audio visual material, ephemera. The program will feature White in conversation with writer with Bill Goldstein, a 2022-23 Beinecke research fellow who is writing a biography of Larry Kramer (https://www.billgoldsteinbooks.com/) beginning at 4:00pm, with time for q&a from about 4:30pm until the program concludes at 5pm.
