The Greater New Haven African American Historical Society and Beinecke Library will hold an open house in the Beinecke reading room on Sunday, November 20, 2:30pm - 4:30pm, to showcase library collections related to New Haven Black History. Some of the people with ties to New Haven who you might meet in the archives include: Ida B. Wells, W. E. B. Du Bois, Edward Bouchet, Helen Hagan, George Crawford, William Grimes, Bias and Margaret Stanley, and more!
In accordance with Yale University policy, COVID-19 vaccination (including a booster, if eligible) is required for visitors five and older. You may be asked to present proof of vaccination. Additional visitor information on the library website.
Note: Secure lockers are available to store personal belongings before goitn to the reading room; no bags, backpacks, purses, or coats are permitted in the reading room where materials will be on view. No ink pens are pemitted; only yellow pencils are allowed in the reading room and are available in the library.
Visitors may take non-flash photographs with a mobile phone or hand-held camera for personal enjoyment.
