Welcome to Hidden Gems, a series of short articles which highlight items in the Beinecke Library’s collection of rare books and manuscripts and which showcase current, hands-on research being undertaken by graduate students, faculty and other scholars. This series is edited by Carson Koepke and overseen by Raymond Clemens, Curator of Early Books and Manuscripts. Carson Koepke is a PhD student in the Graduate School of Arts and Science’s Medieval Studies program. He specializes in early medieval literature and manuscript culture.
