Special thanks to Professor Langdon Hammer for our seasonal Gertrude Stein photo–see Stein, Jo Davidson, and this sculpture in progress in the Beinecke’s Digital Library: Davidson & Stein.

We’re looking forward to an exciting 2018 – this spring the Yale Collection of American Literature & the James Weldon Johnson Memorial Collection will be featured in a building-wide exhibition: + The Art of Collaboration. Join us at the Beinecke for the opening reception on Friday, January 26at 5pm to see materials from the archives of H.D., Gertrude Stein & Alice B. Toklas, Richard Wright, Langston Hughes, C. D. Wright and many others. Among the events associated with the exhibition, we’re especially excited about “Copyright and Collaboration in the Theater: Tony Kushner in conversation with Daphne Brooks,” taking place on March 9, 4 pm, at Yale Repertory Theatre, 1120 Chapel Street.

On February 7, we’ll host the inaugural Mark Strand Memorial Poetry Reading by poet Rosanna Warren. Other readings – including fall events featuring poets Nicole Sealey and Eileen Myles – will be posted online throughout the year: Readings at Beinecke Library. All Library events are post online:Upcoming Events at Beinecke.
